Activate protection
- Open adBlock and choose a plan.
- Approve adding the encrypted DNS configuration.
- Open Settings, then General, then VPN & Device Management, then DNS.
- Select adBlock and return to the app.
- Use Verify protection.
Apple requires that you make the final DNS selection. adBlock cannot select itself or use a private Settings shortcut.
Is adBlock a VPN?
No. It uses Apple's dns-settings entitlement and native DNS over HTTPS. Only
DNS requests use Velorion's resolver. Web pages, messages, and other traffic do
not pass through it. A separate VPN can override DNS and prevent verification.
Why does an ad remain?
DNS blocking cannot remove a resource served from the same domain as the content you want. A source may also be absent from the policy, cached, or using another name. Custom rules require the production service and are not applied locally when that service or credential is unavailable.
What happens when the subscription expires?
Filtering turns off. The resolver is designed to route the credential to unfiltered DNS so ordinary resolution can continue while the single-node service is reachable. Restore or renew in the App Store, then refresh status.
Plans, trial, cancellation, and restore
Monthly is €0.99 per month. Annual is €4.99 per year and offers eligible users a 7-day free trial. Trials and subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Manage cancellation in your Apple Account subscription settings. Deleting the app does not cancel. Restore purchases asks StoreKit to restore a verified entitlement, and adBlock never asks for an app account password.
Protection or DNS is unavailable
The current backend is a single node and has no uptime guarantee. Check that the device is online, that adBlock remains selected in iOS DNS settings, and that another VPN is not controlling DNS. On supported iOS versions, choose availability-first behaviour. Otherwise pause or remove the DNS configuration from adBlock to recover system DNS.
Privacy and deletion
Queried domains are handled ephemerally and are not kept as domain history. Only rotating aggregate blocked counts are reported. See the privacy policy. Request server-side installation and custom-rule deletion at contact@velorion.tech. Do not email credentials or domain histories.
What to include in a support request
Include the app version, the iOS version, the approximate time, the network type, and the copied diagnostics report. Do not send resolver credentials, queried domains, or screenshots containing personal browsing information.
Blocklist attribution
adBlock's starter policy is derived from the AdAway default blocklist.
